Junior Estimator

POSITION SUMMARY: The Junior Estimator should have a foundational, working knowledge of building materials and understand the requirements for various construction projects. They will focus on non-self-performing work, interacting with subcontractors for bids. This position assists Estimators in the preconstruction process to gather information and data.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 2 – 5 years of estimating experience in commercial, heavy industrial, or civil construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering; Or equivalent experience
  • Currently living in the St. Louis metro area
  • Knowledge of estimating and scheduling software (Primavera P6, Bluebeam, etc) and proficiency in MicroSoft Word systems
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Operate with an understanding of the project demands and needed resources to handle non-self-performing work
  • Work with subcontractors to send bid invites and review bids received
  • Maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
  • Conduct research to obtain data and gather information on costs
  • Collect metrics, review documents, and assist with building a timeline
  • Collect key construction documents, such as property plans, blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications
  • Assist in communications with suppliers, contractors, vendors, and materials for projects
  • Make visits to construction sites, warehouses, and other such venues to gather insights about the project
  • Assist in developing a work schedule for project completion
  • Assist with material takeoff and apply current pricing knowledge
  • Build relationships and maintain a directory of vendors, suppliers, and contractors
  • Work with key personnel, including engineers, architects, contractors, subcontractors, and business owners
  • Stay up to date with building codes and industry trends

COMPENSATION: Starting at $70,000 annually. Commensurate with experience.
